Company Profile

John Williams Textile Machinery Sales Ltd was founded in 1983 by the principle John Williams, who had previously worked for the old established dealership of Messrs Vernon Cooper Ltd for 12 years.

Fortunately, many of the contacts Mr Williams had made during his time with Coopers supported the new company, and today the business has arguably some of the best contacts worldwide, who have helped to establish the business as one of the top companies of its type globally.

With an annual turnover of £1.5 million, the company trades in all continents throughout the world, dealing in the supply of quality second hand knitting machinery, specialising in such makes as Stoll, Shima, Wildt Mellor, Bromley/Bentley and Mecmor.

Now assisted by the second generation of the Williams family, son David now has 10 years experience in the business, and like his father is continually opening new contacts with new companies both here in the UK and markets further afield.

During his 25 years in the second hand business, Mr Williams has gained the trust of clients world wide who have seen the company grow from humble beginnings in a 2000 square feet leased unit at the Auster Industrial Hamlet, Silverfield Drive, Thurmaston to buying their first factory of 5,000 sq feet on Cannock Street, Troon Industrial Estate and then moving to 10,000 sq feet premises on the Hamilton Business Park in 1994. In January 2003 JW moved to impressive premises at Craven Street, Leicester - the new factory offers the company an excellent showplace to display their used and rebuilt machinery.

In addition to selling used knitting machinery, the company has found a niche market selling textile machinery spare parts. With so many older machine builders now out of the business, there is a demand for parts to keep these machines running. With large stocks of spare parts having been accumulated when buying 2nd hand machines, John Williams Textile Machinery can now offer a service to clients worldwide.
